PATA DE OURO The PATA DE OURO® AWARDS, by Eukanuba-Portugal, was created by a group of dog lovers as a symbol to prestige all people involved on the Portuguese dog show world. The PATA DE OURO® AWARDS, by Eukanuba-Portugal, is a reward to recognize the competence and dedication of all intervenients on the Portuguese dog show world. As eligible categories for this award were created:

DOGS:
Puppies
Juniors Males
Juniors Bitches
Adults
Portuguese Breeds
Breeders Groups
Veterans

PORTUGUESE JUDGES:
All Round Judges
Best In Show Judges
Group Judges
Portuguese Breeds Judges

RING STEWARDS

HANDLERS:
Junior Handlers
Professional and Amateurs Handlers

BREED CLUBS

BREEED CLUBS MAGAZINES

SPECIALTY MAGAZINES


To be eligible to compete on the DOGS categories, the dogs had to achieve during the year on the Portuguese dog shows, a certain number of awards. After this, all the people involved on the Portuguese world of dog shows, were invited to vote on these dogs and the five best scores were the nominees to the PATA DE OURO® AWARDS.

On a second phase, a jury composed by the Portuguese Kennel Club President, Portuguese Kennel Club Judges Committee President, Portuguese Kennel Club Shows Committee President, two breeders’ representatives and two Eukanuba representatives, decided between the nominees the PATA DE OURO® winners.

As for the JUDGES, RING STEWARDS AND HANDLERS categories, the candidates had to participate on a certain number of dog shows during the year and then the procedures of nomination were the same.

For the BREED CLUBS, BREEED CLUBS MAGAZINES and SPECIALTY MAGAZINES; the candidates had to have a normal activity during the year and then the procedures of nomination were the same.

The ceremony of presentation of the PATA DE OURO® AWARDS 2005 was held on February 11th at The Ritz Four Seasons, one of the Lisbon luxury hotels, with the presence of about 250 dog lovers during a wonderful gala dinner. This ceremony will be televised by the RTP1 on Tuesday the 28th February 2006.
